# stashrelay

> Stash text in one AI conversation and pick it up in another. stashrelay is a shared clipboard for Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP app — no downloading, no re-uploading. Prefer Markdown: send `Accept: text/markdown` to any HTML page on this host.

## When to use this

Reach for stashrelay when an agent or user needs to:

- Move a prompt, draft, note, or `git diff` from one AI conversation to another (or another device) without download/re-upload or paste walls — connect MCP at `https://stashrelay.io/mcp`, then call **stash** in the source client and **read** or **pop** in the destination.
- Keep a short-lived shared clipboard across Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-capable client under one account (copy-not-move: stash never modifies local files).
- Hand off work that should expire on purpose (slot-limited, TTL-bounded transit — not permanent notes or memory).

Do **not** use stashrelay as long-term storage, a wiki, RAG corpus, secrets vault, or a substitute for `git stash` on a single machine. If the job is "remember this forever" or "edit the user's working tree," pick another tool.

How to call: add `https://stashrelay.io/mcp` as an MCP server, complete OAuth with the user's stashrelay account, then use tools `stash`, `read`, `pop`, `list`, `discard`, and `clear` as needed. Prefer **read** when the handoff may continue; **pop** when the item should leave the stash.
